June 2014, Rutgers University began a project to build a new state-of-the-art research facility. The four-story, 145,000 square-foot facility will provide critically needed teaching, laboratory and support space that will enable Rutgers to expand and accelerate its innovative research in drug design, alternative energy, biomaterials and nanotechnology.
In June 2015, the Medical School at Washington University in St. Louis will substantially grow thanks to a new medical building that is currently under construction. The new $81 million building, which began construction in 2013, will be composed of 138,000 square-feet of lab space in six-stories for researchers in different life science disciplines. A new laboratory building is officially in the works at Rockefeller University after being approved by the New York City Council last month. The two-story, 160,000 square foot building over the FDR Drive will accommodate about 26 labs and 440 scientists. Priced at $240 million, the new lab space will feature a landscaped green roof with two glass pavilions, one for offices and a second to house a cafeteria.
