$1.3M New Life Science Grant Awarded to University of Arizona

Researchers at the University of Arizona recently received a $1.3 million new life science grant from the National Institutes of Health. The research funding was awarded in April of 2014 by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, a division of the National Institutes of Health. The project, entitled “The Cost-Effectiveness of School-Based Supervised Asthma Therapy” is being led by Dr. Lynn Gerald. Dr. Gerald is the Canyon Ranch Endowed Chair, Professor, and a Scientist in the Department of Health Promotion Sciences in the College of Public Health at the University of Arizona. In addition to this project receiving NIH research funding, her research interests include clinical, behavioral and epidemiological research in asthma, COPD, and tuberculosis.

NIH Awards $2.7M in Life Science Funding to University of Utah

Research funding at the University of Utah is on the rise with the latest news of new NIH life science funding awarded to researchers this year. The National Institutes of Health awarded the University of Utah $2.7 million for studies involving data coordinating at the Center for the Collaborative Pediatric Critical Care. The departments receiving this latest research funding include Pediatrics and the School of Medicine. The funding organization within the National Institutes of Health is the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development.

Life Science Funding Totals $3M at Oregon State in New NIH Grant

The Oregon State University Superfund Research Program recently received $3 million in life science funding from the National Institutes of Health. This multi-investigator, multi-disciplinary and multi-institution program makes its goal the development of new technologies to assess polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) present at many Superfund sites and the analysis of the potential risk these hydrocarbons may have for people who come in contact with them. $25M in Research Funding Established at Rockefeller University

The Robertson Therapeutic Development Fund was created in light of a generous $25 million gift from the Robertson Foundation, established by investment manager Julian H. Robertson, Jr. and his family.

$6.3M in Research Funding Awarded to Columbia Research Lab

Research lab scientists at Columbia University received $6.3 million in life science research funding this spring for Columbia’s Center for Research in Diagnostics and Discovery. The research grant was awarded by the administering institute the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The department of Public Health and Preventative Medicine within the Schools of Public Health at Columbia University will use the research funding to advance detection of certain diseases and predict how effective specific therapies can be in prevention and treatment. $10M Science Research Grant Awarded to University of Pittsburgh
