USC recently opened the USC Stevens Hall for Neuroimaging, the new home for the Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute. The sleek, modern, state-of-the-art research building is located on the southern edge of USC's Health Sciences Campus and will help accelerate research on neurological disorders such as autism and Alzheimer’s Disease.

$10M Gift Benefits Sports Medicine Research at USC

Researchers and clinicians at the newly renamed University of Southern California's Epstein Family Center for Sports Medicine will collaborate with the university’s Athletics Department and the Keck School of Medicine to develop innovative injury prevention strategies to not only keep Trojan student-athletes healthy, but also help predict the risk of injury and reinjury. $10,000,000 recently donated by the Epstein Family Foundation will help USC staff achieve this.

Research News: U of Michigan Spent a Record $1.48 Billion on R & D

According to the National Science Foundation, The University of Michigan (UM) has ranked number one in total research spending among public universities in the United States for the past seven years. Just as impressive, the $1.48 billion spent in 2016/2017 represents a 6.4% increase over the previous finical year. Much of the university's funding came from federal grants.

New Biological Science Building Under Construction at the University of Michigan

Construction of a new 300,000 square foot Biological Science Building is well under way at UM Ann Arbor. The $261 million project began in the spring of 2015 and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2018. University of Michigan Planner Sue Gott reported that, "The steel erections and concrete work are almost completed,” in an article for Michigan Live.

MSU Opens New $69.8 Million Bioengineering Research Facility

$78.5M For New Research Facilities at University of Michigan

A $78 million project to renovate two empty buildings at the former pharmaceutical research complex at the University of Michigan, known as the North Campus Research Complex, was recently approved by the UM board of regents. The 101,000 square feet of renovated space will be used to create more than 50 modern research laboratories for UM Medical School researchers.

The University of Pittsburgh has strong ties with the Pittsburgh Veteran's Administration Medical Center located next door, and in the past few years those relations have been strengthened with the establishment of the UP School of Medicine Center for Military Medicine Research as well as a new research facility at the VA's University Drive campus.

New Pharmacy Research Building Opens at University of Utah Medical Center

The University of Utah College of Pharmacy just celebrated the opening of its new 150,000sf research building, the L.S. Skaggs Pharmacy Institute, on Medical Drive South. Located adjacent to the 1965 facility named after the senior Mr. Skaggs, the newly-expanded research institute will continue to advance drug development and teaching excellence, much the way the first Skaggs building vaulted the University into the ranks of top pharmaceutical colleges within a few years of its construction. The college currently ranks #10 out of 125 doctor of pharmacy programs according to US News & World Report. The NIH ranks it #3 in research productivity, and it has been among the top 4 pharmacy colleges in NIH funding every year since 1975. 2012 NIH funding was over $20M. The Skaggs family, through their charitable organization, the ALSAM Foundation, gave $50M towards the building costs of the institute.
