UGA and Emory Collaborations Increase Life Science Research Potential

Often times, researchers collaborate with colleagues from different institutions to help further their work, by getting support from others in their field. In early 2015, the University of Georgia, Athens and Emory University in Atlanta received $45 million in funding for collaborative life science research projects. Now, these 2 leading research institutions are continuing to work together through sharing their core facilities.

USC Researcher to Receive Honor for Helping the Blind See

Technology is a field that is always changing, with researchers constantly looking for new ways to solve problems through innovative projects. Mark Humayun, M.D., Ph.D., a professor from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine and the USC Viterbi School of Engineering developed a product that can help people with retinitis pigmentosa, type of blindness, see, and is set to be honored with the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, presented by President Barack Obama early this year.

The Texas Medical Center in Houston is the world's largest medical center, currently comprised of21 hospitals, 13 support organizations, 8 academic and research institutions, 6 nursing programs, 3 medical schools, 3 public health organizations, 2 universities, 2 medical schools, and 1 dental school. The center is constantly expanding, and a new $1.1 billion medical campus as part of the Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center will be the newest addition to the Texas Medical Center.
