The University of Georgia, Athens will receive $44.7 million for the construction of a new UGA building, the Science Learning Center. The 122,500-square-foot facility will add 33 teaching labs to the South campus for the chemistry, biological sciences, plant biology and physics departments.

Two UCLA Researchers recently received major multimillion dollar stem cell grants to help bring the benefits of new stem cell research to patients. These grants will fund two groundbreaking clinical trials set to begin in the beginning of 2014.

Science researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham recently received a $3 million grant that will be distributed over five years to join the Women’s Interagency HIV study (WIHS). Michael Saag, M.D. is the study’s principal investigator, and Mirjam-Collete Kempf, Ph.D., M.P.H. is the co-principal investigator. The researchers will begin recruiting women for the study this coming October.
