Life Science Grant Worth $8.1M Awarded to University of Alabama

Researchers at the University of Alabama recently received $8.1 million in life science funding from the National Institutes of Health for a study involving the etiology of geographic and racial differences in stroke. The life science grant was awarded in January of 2014 by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, a branch within the National Institutes of Health.

Research Funding Worth $5.3M Awarded to UC San Diego

The University of California, San Diego recently received $5.3 million in life science funding from the National Institutes of Health for the university’s Clinical and Translational Research Institute. Researchers were given notice of their new life science grant on June 7th, 2014 by the administering organization within the NIH providing the funding, the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences. $10.3M in Science Research Funding Awarded to USC by NIH

Researchers at the University of Southern California recently received $10.3 million in life science funding to help support the Southern California Clinical and Translational Science Institute. The project leader is Dr. Thomas Buchanan of the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine, and the funding organization within the National Institutes of Health is the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences. The new science research funding will help researchers and doctors improve medical treatment for patients in urban areas.

Science Research Funding Allotted to Endowed Faculty at Stony Brook

Stony Brook University recently named an endowed professor for cancer research at an Investiture Ceremony this spring. Dr. Yusuf A. Hannun will have a sizeable amount of science research funding available for conducting cancer research as the Joel Strum Kenny Professor in Cancer Research. $1.6M in New Research Funding Raised for Cancer Research at UC Irvine

$2.4M Life Science Grant Awarded to Rockefeller Researchers

New Laboratory Building Approved by NYC at Rockefeller University

A new laboratory building is officially in the works at Rockefeller University after being approved by the New York City Council last month. The two-story, 160,000 square foot building over the FDR Drive will accommodate about 26 labs and 440 scientists. Priced at $240 million, the new lab space will feature a landscaped green roof with two glass pavilions, one for offices and a second to house a cafeteria.

New Life Science Grant Awarded to UCSD Neuroscience Researcher

A neuroscience researcher at the University of California, San Diego recently received a new life science grant that will support her studies with $100,000 per year for the next three years. Dr. MJ Harbert, MD, is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Neurosciences at UCSD. Her project, “Brain Activity During Birth for Prediction of Newborns at Risk for Brain Injury,” has gained her recognition from The Hartwell Foundation, who named her a recipient of an Individual Biomedical Research Award.
