University of Pittsburgh Will Begin Building $1M Laboratory

The University of Pittsburgh will soon begin construction on a new $1 million laboratory at the Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology. The new laboratory is expected to attract researchers from around the globe. The 3,600-square-foot facility will be funded by the NSF, and in addition to being used by some of the world’s top researchers will be a base of outreach to elementary, middle and high school teachers in the region.

University of Pittsburgh Awarded $444.2M in Research Funding

The University of Pittsburgh has a great influence on the western Pennsylvania bioresearch community, making it one of the most highly-funded markets in the Northeast for laboratory equipment sales. According to the latest NIH and NSF research funding statistics, the University of Pittsburgh was awarded at least $444.2 million in research funding in 2012. The NIH awarded the University of Pittsburgh $419.5 million in 2012. The research funding was spread out over a number of research projects across various departments at the university.
