UC Riverside and University of Washington Receive NIH Grant

Researchers at the University of Washington and the University of California, Riverside have received $2 million in the form of a four-year grant from the NIH to identify the 3-D structure of the parasite that causes malaria, Plasmodium's, genome during its erythrocytic cycle. According to News Medical, this cycle takes place over 48 hours and can repeat for a number of days or even weeks in humans.

Medical Research Building at Riverside Getting Ready For Business

It's back to school season, and that's especially exciting at UC Riverside. The new Medical School Research Building will be the first public medical school in California in the last 40 years and the 5th medical school to be created in the UC system. The 58,000 square foot research and teaching medical school will begin accepting students this fall semester.
