New York Life Science Marketing Events Approaching

Biotechnology Calendar, Inc.’s Rockefeller University life science marketing events are held twice a year, and our second event is coming up quickly on October 2nd, 2013. Rockefeller University is a research powerhouse in New York whose main research areas include biochemistry, structural biology, immunology, virology, microbiology, medical sciences, and molecular cell and developmental biology. According to the Rockefeller Universtiy website, the university has 72 laboratories that conduct cutting edge research. Rockefeller University also received a $2.5 million NIH award, a grant renewal that has allowed researchers to continue their studies of chemotherapeutic responsiveness in cancer.

Spotlight on Universities Receiving MS Research Funding

In yesterday’s blog, Biotechnology Calendar, Inc. spotlighted two schools receiving funding from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Funding totaled $2.5 million and will be given to a network of nine institutions searching for a cure for MS including the Mayo Clinic, the University of California at San Francisco, Stony Brook University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Children’s Hospital Boston, Texas Children’s Hospital, Loma Linda University, the State University of New York at Buffalo and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Research Funding Totals $179.2M at Mount Sinai

Mount Sinai School of Medicine is helping to make New York a well-funded market for laboratory equipment sales, according to the latest NIH and NSF research funding statistics. In 2012, the NIH awarded Mount Sinai $178.7 million in research funding. The money will go towards many research projects across various departments at the university. In 2012, Columbia University received $456.1 million from the NIH and NSF. The NIH alone gave the university $361.1 million.
