Life science marketing events at the exceptionally well-funded University of California, San Diego are held twice a year by Biotechnology Calendar, Inc. and are consistently our most well-attended events. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society announced a commitment of $2.5 million to the Network of Pediatric MS Centers, a network of nine centers that includes the Mayo Clinic, the University of California at San Francisco, Stony Brook University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Children’s Hospital Boston, Texas Children’s Hospital, Loma Linda University, the State University of New York at Buffalo and Massachusetts General Hospital. According to PR Newswire, the funding will be used to research the cause of MS by investigating risk factors for the disease in children close to the time of exposure.

A study published by the NSF ranked the University of California, San Diego in the top ten universities in the country receiving federal research funding, reports Lab Manager Magazine. The University of California, San Diego was ranked number eight out of 896 universities that received federal research funding in 2011. In 2012, the University of California, San Diego had an endowment of $560 million. The school was closely preceded by Columbia University on the list, while the University of Wisconsin, Madison came in ninth place.
