University of Illinois Cancer Center is pursuing designation from the National Cancer Institute

The University of Illinois Cancer Center is pursuing designation from the National Cancer Institute, a branch of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The prestigious designation would mean increased financial support from the NIH, resulting in more opportunities for researchers as well as an economic benefit for the entire community. If the University of Illinois  succeeds it  become the third cancer center to reach this status in the state of Illinois.

Rank in Total Life Science R&D Expenditures: 52nd

The MART Building Including New Cancer Center at Stony Brook

The newly established MART (Medical and Research Translation) building at Stony Brook which is eight stories high (240,000 sq. ft.) will have three floors dedicated solely to research.  The MART is the new home for Stony Brook University Cancer Center. 

 

The MART building ($194M is part of the $423M SBU medicine expansion).

 

The State-of-the-Art MART brings together researchers and clinicians which will change the future of cancer care through innovative developments, medical discoveries and lifesaving treatments for patients with cancer from all over the world.
