The Oregon University System plans to build a new life science building on Portland's South Waterfront. The building will be shared by Portland State, The University of Oregon, Oregon State, and OHSU. The main tenant will be OHSU which plans to house several of its science research programs in the new space.

Stem Cell Research Funded at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center

The National Institutes of Health has awarded the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center $4.8 million in new stem cell research funding.  The four-year grant will go to research the effect of a patient's DNA on the outcome and success of a stem cell transplant.

OHSU Laboratories to Receive New Research Funding From Intel

OHSU’s Oregon Center for Aging & Technology (also known as Orcatech) has received $3 Million in new funding from Intel Corp.  To collect and compile data that will help in understanding the onset of dementia and other aging ailments. The new Intel Funding, when coupled with the existing $12 Million in federal grants, will likely spur many lucrative research opportunities at OHSU.
