The building is located right next to the center's South Lake Union Campus at 1100 Eastlake Ave. E. and is thus a key step toward the center's goal of consolidating its research facilities on one campus. The building is 177,000 square-feet and was acquired for $36 million from a group of investors called the Blume 1100 Partnership.
Bruce Bloom, the leader of the partnership was quoted on the Hutchinsin Center's page as saying that the new facility is a "premier life sciences building" that will help the center "advance its cancer-fighting mission.”
If you are interested in meeting the scientists and researchers who will be occupying the Hutchinson Center's new building in the near future, plan on attending Biotechnology Calendar, Inc.'s 6th annual BioResearch Product Faire™ at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center on October 26, 2011.
