UC Davis funding and research by the numbers

UC DAVIS Research Funding :

Life Science R & D Expenditures: 22nd Ranked = $509,743,000 [1] 2014

Recent  NIH Funding: $195,183,640 [2]

UC Davis has almost 1,000 basic science, translational and clinical research studies in progress, all made possible through state and federal funding as well as grants and funding from private foundations; pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and philanthropic donations. [3]

A $38.5 million philanthropic gift to the UCD Eye Center will support a number of aspects of the center including supporting optic nerve and glaucoma research. [4]

UC Davis has been awarded $29 million from the NIH for the next five-year phase of the Knockout Mouse Project (KOMP). [5]

$10 million to UCD researchers will fund the establishment of a center for Schizophrenia research which will emphasize a collaboration between basic and clinical research. [6]

A $8.5 million CA Stem Cell Agency grant was awarded to UC Davis researchers investigating stem cell applications for treating HIV/AIDS patients. [7]

The UC Davis Alzheimer’s Disease Center received renewed funding of $6.9 million from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) to support its studies on cognitive aging and dementia. [8]

The USDA granted Davis agricultural researchers received a specialty-crops grant for $4.5 million to fund research into identifying plant genes that lead lettuce to harness stress-resistant traits. [9]

Three separate NIH grants totaling $3.5 million will fund a UC Davis researcher looking to identify chemical mechanisms that can protect the central nervous system during specific types of seizures. [10]

UC Davis received two new grants from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), totaling $3.2 million, which will be used to support research projects focusing on treating cancer and other diseases. [11]

New York Lab Equipment Sales: 10 Spaces Left At Rockefeller

This fall, lab suppliers at our two New York trade fair events saw a record 669 in researcher attendance. Some exhibitors saw over $500,000 in potential business. At this point, we have only 10 spaces left for the upcoming April event at Rockefeller University, and 11 for Mount Sinai.
