The Contribution of Bone to Whole Organism Physiology
The Cell & Molecular Biology Affinity Group Seminar Series - The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA, United States
Speakers: Gerard Karsenty, M.D., Ph.D.
Paul A. Marks M.D. Professor and Chair
Department of Genetics and Development
Columbia University Medical Center, New York
Host: Dr. Supriya Srinivasan
A recent advance in bone biology has been the demonstration that in mice and
in humans bone physiology is intimately connected to energy metabolism,
reproduction, and brain functions. Several of these advances will be
reviewed or presented if unpublished during the seminar. The overall
emphasis of this talk will be to demonstrate the medial and sometimes
therapeutic relevances of this coordinated regulation and of these novel and
long-range functions of bone
