Conference - London, United Kingdom

Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is embarking on an exciting new interdisciplinary initiative in life sciences, and as part of this we shall be holding our first life sciences conference on ‘Population Health in a Post-Genomic Era’ at the new Royal London Dental Hospital Education Academy, in our Whitechapel campus, London. It is open to interested students and researchers nationwide.
The ethos for the conference will be the exploration of the capacity, constraints and utility of using the data that are becoming increasingly readily available on an individual’s genome, and now also through post-genomic information, via the proteome – the full complement of proteins that can be expressed by a cell, tissue, or organism – and the metabolome – the total number of metabolites (small molecules such as hormones, amino acids, vitamins,) present within an organism, cell, or tissue. These, in combination with information about an individual’s physical and social environment, enables us to make inferences about people’s susceptibility to diseases and disorders and/or their response to treatment regimes.
Organization: Queen Mary University of London

Mon, Dec 15, 2014 - Tue, Dec 16, 2014
