Science Researcher Update: Spotlight on Meetings, Conferences, and Events

Imaging Synapse Structure and Function in the Vertebrate Brain

Posted on Jan 19, 2014 1:39:00 PM

Conference - Janelia Farm Research Campus, Ashburn, VA, United States

A follow-up to the 2010 Janelia conference on "Structural Plasticity in the Mammalian Brain", this symposium will highlight recent studies of neuronal structure and synaptic function during physiological and pathological processes, as well as novel mechanisms underlying these processes. An overarching goal is to bridge the gap between studies of individual anatomical structures and functional outputs. We also hope to use it as a platform to identify open problems and introduce new imaging approaches. Leaders in the field from around the world will present the latest advances in cutting edge imaging methods, and a significant portion of the meeting will be devoted to disease mechanisms and how live imaging will contribute to the development of novel therapeutic strategies.
