Keystone Symposia: Lipid Pathways in Biology and Disease

Posted on Feb 27, 2014 2:01:00 PM

(C3) Keystone Symposia: Lipid Pathways in Biology and Disease

Conference - Dublin, Ireland

The conference will:
• Cover emerging insights into underlying interactions between lipid intermediates that initiate signaling mechanisms and a variety of growth factor and hormonal signaling pathways such as the mTOR pathway;
• Highlight emerging discoveries regarding how lipid signaling in the immune system integrates with peripheral cell types such as endothelial cells, cardiomyocytes and adipocytes in promoting disease processes;
• Bring together scientists who view the lipid field from different perspectives, such as those who have made major advances in hepatic lipogenesis with molecular pathologists working on the actions of lipoproteins following secretion from the liver, as well as lipid scientists with scientists working on insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.

Session Topics:
• Lipids as Signaling Molecules I & II
• Linking Metabolism to Gene Expression
• Packaging Neutral Lipids into Lipid Droplets
• Unconventional Lipid Droplet Functions
• New Insights into Control of Lipogenesis
• Lipids in Human Disease
• Adipogenesis and “Britening“ of White Fat
plus a workshop on late-breaking topics
