UMIB is a research and development unit recognized by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia – FCT (Portuguese national funding agency for science and technology), whose main objective is to develop translational research that enables the advancement of knowledge and the implementation of diagnosis strategies and innovative.
The UMIB Summit 2015 has been designed to provide an overall view of the most important research lines and results obtained by our research groups.
The event is also intended to incentivize collaborations and initiate partnerships.
All of the 7 Symposia will receive important national and international speakers who will also act as jury of the oral communications presented by young researchers in the Oral Communications Sessions to be held on September 24, 2015.
We will also have a Posters Session dedicated to students and a Plenary Session hold by Professor Ramón Gomis who will present the very pertinent and current lecture How to establish successful translational research.
This is the very FIRST multidisciplinary meeting we are holding to disseminate our work, promote synergies among UMIB's research groups and other relevant research institutions and attract young talented researchers.
The 7 Symposia are dedicated to the following areas of research:
- S1: Immune response to infection
- S2: Genetic and neurodegenerative disorders
- S3: Mechanisms of cancer treatment resistance
- S4: Autoimmune and inflammatory mechanisms
- S5: Dysmetabolism and chronic kidney disease
- S6: Gastrointestinal hormones & type 2 diabetes
- S7: Human fertility and reproductive disorders
