Conference - Steamboat Springs, CO, United States
This FASEB Science Research Conference (SRC) provides a forum for the rapidly growing field of helicase-related research, a phenomenon fueled by the recognition that these proteins are essential to all aspects of nucleic acid metabolism, including gene expression, RNA processing, chromatin remodeling, DNA replication, repair, and recombination. Because helicases play central roles in these processes, their study also provides critical insight into a broad spectrum of disorders characterized by premature aging, susceptibility to cancers, neurological disorders, immunodeficiency and developmental abnormalities. The conference will cover all aspects of helicase biology, from structure and mechanism to broader implications for human disease. It will build on the success of previous meetings by encompassing a broader scope of research and viewing helicases within the context of the molecular machines they drive ? machines required for the preservation of genetic integrity, timely and accurate segregation of the genetic material during cell division, and cellular RNA metabolism.
