The 6th Annual BioResearch Product Faire™ Event at Thomas Jefferson University will be held on May 6, 2015. This popular event brings together more than one hundred life science researchers with sales reps from lab supply companies, to help these researchers discover new products and technologies that can be used to further research in the life science labs on campus.

This Thomas Jefferson University Biotechnology Calendar, Inc. event gives lab suppliers the chance to present, discuss and promote products with researchers while answering questions and getting exposure in the always growing and evolving life science research marketplace. Showcasing the most current lab supplies right on campus provides companies with the opportunity to get brand awareness and discover new sales leads in a fun and professional environment. 

At the 2014 event at Thomas Jefferson University, 134 researchers attended. Of this 134, 53 were professors, post docs and purchasing agents, and 24 were lab managers. The balance were research associates and postgraduate students. 

Thomas Jefferson University is a well-funded research institution that received $48,507,429 in funding from the National Institutes of Health in the 2014 fiscal year. Research departments that received substantial portions of this funding include: 

• Microbiology, Immunology and Virology - $12,024,750
• Pathology - $6,713,410
• Medicine and Internal Medicine - $6,131,099
• Biochemistry - $4,893,138
• Neurosciences - $4,512,638

This funding is used throughout the research departments to help establish new research projects and support current research. Some current research projects receiving funding at Thomas Jefferson University include: 

• The National Cancer Institute awarded Thomas Jefferson a $2.7 million grant for funding to support the cancer research activities of the Kimmel Cancer Center (KCC), in order to increase the survival and quality of life of cancer patients by translating basic research discoveries into new strategies to prevent, diagnose, monitor and cure human cancer.
• The NIH awarded Thomas Jefferson University a five-year $2.6 million grant to study noninvasive imaging methods to stage and detect prostate cancer.
• Researchers at Thomas Jefferson University received a four-year, $2.5 million grant from the NIH to study cancer gene activation in lung cancer.
