Science Researcher Update: Spotlight on Meetings, Conferences, and Events

The most outstanding speakers have been selected to offer un-missable educational lectures to improve your professional practice. Through collaborations with our leading partner societies we are also able to present a number of Special Joint Symposia dealing with topics that reflect the daily needs of oncology practitioners, reflecting the holistic approach that ESMO is developing and willing to offer to the whole oncology community. Importantly, ESMO Vienna 2012 will also be the first time a Congress solely dedicated to medical oncology will host a community of specialists whose shared discipline has been recognized at European level. As our knowledge of cancer biology improves and new approaches to treatment and diagnosis develop, the management of cancer patients will continue to change substantially. The identification of new biomarkers is increasingly supporting the development of targeted drugs, which pose crucial challenges for the daily practice: Who will really benefit from them? Can we manage all possible side-effects? Are these new drugs affordable? How can we best respond and adapt to new and emerging treatment approaches and paradigms?
