Next Generation Plant Science 2012

Symposium - Cologne, Germany

Plants are fundamental to almost all organisms on earth. They provide humankind with energy, medicine and food. Therefore, the understanding of plants is the key to solving the challenges of the 21st century, such as: a globally changing environment, an increasing demand for food worldwide and an emerging need for energy. Recent advances in high throughput sequencing and phenotyping technologies have greatly improved our understanding of plants in the last years. Nevertheless, further technological advances are needed in order to master the challenges of the 21st century. In this 'Next Generation Plant Science' symposium we are aiming to bridge the gap between established high throughput techniques and novel, innovative approaches that have the potential to effectively influence the next generation of plant science. We want to bring together top level scientists and engineers from different disciplines in plant science and beyond with the most innovative companies in order to shed light on the next generation of plant science.
