Molecular Biology of Archaea III
A Biochemical Society Independent Meeting - Marburg, Germany
We are delighted to welcome you to Marburg for the international conference on the ‘Molecular Biology of the Archaea 3’. Since the Archaea were ‘discovered’ and named by Carl Woese, there have been spectacular advances in our understanding of these diverse and enigmatic organisms. Studies of the Archaea have provided important information about evolution, the nature of the prokaryotic biosphere, metabolic circuitry, and the structural and molecular biology of the information processing machineries including replication, transcription and translation.
Bettina Siebers, Sonja-Verena Albers and Finn Werner have put together a scientific programme that covers the breadth of the exciting field of archaeal research. During the meeting you will hear talks from world-leading scientists on a diverse range of topics ranging from structural to systems biology by way of biochemistry, cell biology and genetics. The field is making fascinating advances on all these fronts and we anticipate an action packed few days. We hope that the discussions that ensue at this meeting will stimulate new ideas and pave the way for future collaborations.
