(X7) Keystone Symposia: Complications of Diabetes

Conference - Whistler, British Columbia, Canada

The conference will:
• Assemble scientists from diverse backgrounds – including experts in metabolism, stem cell biology, mitochondrial biology, model organisms and clinical complications – to provide new perspectives on underlying biology relevant to diabetic complications;
• Challenge current research paradigms by introducing novel concepts and experimental approaches, including research on the effects of diabetes on stem cells and tissue repair, biological pathways involved in diabetic tissue damage, and gene interactions and epigenetics;
• Foster collaborations and interactions through the joint pairing with the meeting on “Innate Immunity, Metabolism and Vascular Injury.”

Session Topics:
• Metabolic Dysregulation and the Pathogenesis of Diabetic Cardiovascular Disease
• Stem Cells in Diabetic Tissue Repair
• Macrophages and Vascular Inflammation (Joint)
• Emerging Targets for the Treatment of Diabetic Complications
• Clinical Therapies on the Horizon for Diabetic Complications
• Mitochondrial Biology
• Where Are the Missing Genetics in Diabetic Complications? (Joint)
• Model Systems for Diabetic Complications
