Conference - Langkawi island, Malaysia
The recent re-emergence of Chikungunya virus led to millions of affected people worldwide. For the first time, local transmission from mosquitoes was reported outside the tropics, in Italy and France. As the global distribution of Aedes mosquito vectors continues to expand, Chikungunya is now a global threat, and no longer a relatively neglected infection confined to the tropics.
We are therefore pleased to invite all those interested in Chikungunya to this major conference focusing on Chikungunya and related alphaviruses. A broad range of topics will be addressed by leading experts, and the conference will appeal to virologists, clinicians, epidemiologists and entomologists. There will also be opportunities for selected participants to present papers at oral and poster sessions, including a number of Young Investigator Awards. The conference will be held on Langkawi Island in Malaysia, famous for its beaches, World Geopark status (UNESCO), and rich cultural heritage, exemplified by the legend of Princess Mahsuri.
