Workshop - Bar Harbor, NY, United States
Edward H. Birkenmeier, 1947-1996, was a member of the scientific staff of The Jackson Laboratory for 16 years and a Senior Staff Scientist for five. The Birkenmeier Lectureship was founded to honor his memory and as a tribute to his enthusiasm and faith in science and learning. The lectureship is endowed through a fund established by Ed's family, friends, and colleagues. The funds are used to bring a distinguished scientist to the Jackson Laboratory for an annual public lecture. The first such lecture was held in 1998.
