Cell Symposium: Transcriptional Regulation in Development

Symposium - Chicago, IL, United States

It is clear that cell fate decisions and developmental processes both drive and are driven by changes in transcriptional regulation.Over the years, insights from developmental biology have fueled advances in our understanding of transcription and chromatin while studies of transcription mechanisms have provided powerful tools and concepts for understanding some of the molecular events underlying developmental biology. Our understanding of key concepts such as regulation by non-coding RNAs, histone modifications, pluripotency, differentiation, and epigenetics would likely be rather limited without the ongoing dialogue between these disciplines.

For this symposium, we aim to continue to bring together researchers working in developmental biology with those studying the specific molecular and cellular mechanisms of transcriptional regulation. We hope that this meeting will provide a forum for scientists to challenge assumptions about whether a seemingly important detail of enzymology is in fact biologically relevant and to discuss approaches to identifying molecular basis for interesting but poorly understood biological phenomena
