New Medical and Research Building at Stony Brook University
The new $194 million Medical and Research Translational Building at Stony Brook University is set to open soon this year. The 250,000 square-foot building, loacted near the university's Health Science Center, will greatly expand medical research capabilities and is one of several expansions that the university is undergoing.
The New Medical and Research Translational Building Includes:
- Eight floors devoted to imaging, neurosciences, and cancer research
- 25 cancer biology-oriented labs
- 30-room cancer clinic
- 30-station clinical infusion center
Research
This expansive new facility will enable Stony Brook researchers and physicians to work together to advance cancer research. According to Stony Brook University's website, the new research building will include "cancer biology oriented wet laboratories for cell, tissue, and other cancer biology research, dry labs for statistical research, biomedical informatics, and clinical study, a chemistry research lab, conference center and educational space."
Cancer Care
As the site of the new outpatient Cancer Center, the MART will also allow Stony Brook to deliver cutting-edge cancer care more efficiently and effectively. It will also double the university's capacity to provide cancer treatment.
