EMBO Workshop: 'Cell?Cell Fusion'
Workshop - Kibbutz Ein Gedi, Israel
The EMBO Workshop will provide scientists from a wide range of disciplines with the newest research findings on the functions of cell fusion in development in a number of model organisms. The emphasis will be on emerging universal mechanisms and future applications to cancer and stem cell research.
On November 3, 2013, the EMBO Workshop will begin with a half day symposium at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel. In the afternoon participants will travel to Kibbutz Ein Gedi where a closed event for 120 participants will be held until November 7.
The programme for the workshop has been designed around the theme of cell fusion in health and disease and the relationship between cell fusion and the larger fields of membrane fusion and fission during exocytosis, endocytosis and viral entry.
Our cell fusion community is entering a fascinating phase as the fundamental principles of fusion emerging from theoretical analyses and studies on viral entry and intracellular trafficking start to be applied to understanding the functions and mechanisms of cell-cell fusion in development and disease. Exciting developments will be covered by the invited speakers, along with the latest progress on the basic mechanisms and applications of cell membrane fusion in vitro and in vivo
