Translation of Preclinical Drug–Drug Interaction and Metabolism Data into Risk Assessment of Clinical Toxicity

Symposium - New York City, United States

Drug discovery and development of new chemical entities now includes more assays to better predict human metabolism and potential for drug–drug interactions. However, translating the data from assays into more accurate predictions of the potential for human toxicity remains complicated. Metabolism and drug–drug interactions are not well modeled in preclinical animal studies, but better assessed using in vitro human cellular or protein assays. This symposium will assess new in vivo, in vitro, and in silico approaches to absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion toxicity (ADME-Tox), and explores their integration to better interpret these data for the evaluation of human risk.
