Written by Amanda Long | Tue, Apr 30, 2013

A series of five university trade show events take place annually in the state of Colorado. This includes Colorado State University-Foothills Research, Colorado State University-Fort Collins, University of Colorado-Boulder, University of Colorado-Anschutz Medical, and National Jewish Health. Holding its place as one of the top research institutes, despite recent funding budget cuts, Colorado State University Fort Collins spent $375.9M on research in FY 2012.

These research expenditures represent an achievement for CSU and its faculty, who are competitive in a world of declining or flat financial resources,” said Bill Farland, vice president for Research. The investment that private industry and federal agencies continue to make in our programs indicates they are confident in our abilities to conduct cutting-edge research that is helping people and even creating jobs.”

Despite these mentioned budget cuts, Colorado State University received 67% of research funding for 2012 from federal sources:

  • US Department of Health and Human Services = $52.3 million
  • US Department of Agriculture = $47.2 million
  • National Science Foundation = $36.7 million
  • US Department of Defense = $36.3 million

At Biotechnology Calendar, Inc.'s 2012 Fort Collins Front Line Event™, 184 life science professionals attended to learn about the industries latest and greatest products, equipment, and services for laboratory research projects. There were 45 professors, post docs, and purchasing agents, as well as 26 lab managers. These scientists and researchers came from 17 campus buildings, and 22 university departments.
