The skin care industry is constantly seeking for informative means to screen compounds, combinations and formulations for their efficacy and skin health benefits.Since in early development stages for ethical, safety and budget constrains the exposure of human volunteers in non-practical, a screening tier approach in vitro study panel is desirable. In recent years advances were made in utilizing gene and protein expression methods to identify, quantify and understand mode of action of biological markers. Still these methods are perceived as incomplete, difficult to run and analyze. The main gap is in understanding the means of composing a valid protocol and data interpretation to achieve a reasonable correlation to a clinical set up.
This one-day skin care training course will explain the fundamentals of correlating biomarkers to clinical methods as well as barriers of bioavailability and activity of biological markers. It will further delve into utilizing gene and protein expression methodologies, advantages and limitations of each and potential correlation to clinical skin health attributes.
