Conference - Hannover, Germany

This event is presented by Nature Medicine and the Volkswagen Foundation. It will be the eleventh conference in the Herrenhausen Symposia series.
Aging is associated with functional impairments in cellular pathways controlling genomic stability, proteostasis and metabolism and is a major risk factor for several of the most prevalent diseases including neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic disease. Recent advances have pointed to specific molecular pathways that are perturbed during aging and highlight the plasticity of these changes, suggesting the aging process may be delayed if not reversed to some extent. This meeting is aimed at fostering a cross-disciplinary discussion between researchers investigating basic molecular processes such as those mentioned above, and those engaged in translational research. This work includes the genetics of aging, somatic and stem cell aging, circulating and systemic factors and therapeutic interventions capable of extending lifespan and promoting rejuvenation. The meeting will also feature a poster session, short talks selected from submitted abstracts, and a panel discussion amongst several speakers on special topics in aging research and hurdles to translational research in this discipline.
