EMBO Workshop: 'Membrane Shaping and Remodelling by Proteins'

Workshop - Shaanxi Province, China

The EMBO Workshop on "Membrane shaping and remodelling by proteins" will focus on exciting new developments in Cell Biology where the morphology and dynamics of lipid bilayers play important roles. These areas include organelle biogenesis, endocytosis and vesicular trafficking. While several mechanisms for the shaping and remodeling of membranes have been proposed, in most cases, specific proteins seem to be involved in the generation of membrane curvature, membrane fusion and fission. This symposium will discuss the different protein-based mechanisms by which membrane shaping and remodeling are induced to achieve important biological functions.
