CHI 2013 Bioinformatics in the Genome Era

Conference - San Francisco, California, U.S.A.

Explosive growth of biological information has resulted from many advances in the field of molecular biology and sophisticated techniques and equipment used to carry out rapid genome sequencing. These advances have enabled improvement in biological research and clinical medicine. For example, scientists are able to find cures for some hereditary or acquired diseases and cancers by viewing or analyzing genes directly related to them. Through the use of computational simulation and modeling, scientists can observe the molecular basis of a disease. Drugs can then be designed that target those genes which are diseased.
