Biostimulants Market Expects Dramatic Growth by 2018

Written by Jennifer Nieuwkerk | Thu, Jun 27, 2013

A new report by Markets and Markets examines the growth of the biostimulants industry and expects the market to reach $2,241.0 million by 2018. The growth in consumer demand for biostimulants is the driving factor in the increased valuation of the market. Some important factors influencing demand are the environmental health and organic origin of biostimulants. The Compounded Annual Growth Rate of the biostimulants market is expected to be 12.5% over the next five years.

The report says that some of the key producers and consumers of biostimulants include the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada and India. An increasing number of product launches is creating a great increase of products available on the market. The Markets and Markets report also details strategies being used by the most competitive players in the industry.

Michigan State University is just one of the schools in the United States conducting research on biostimulants. The school’s study “Bistimulation as a Form of Bioremediation of Soil Pollutants” investigates bistimulation as an alternative to chemically treating uranium, heavy metal, aromatic hydrocarbon and chlorinated compound pollution of ground water. Full details of the research are available in a PDF of the study published online.

Lab suppliers interested in marketing life science solutions and university lab equipment at Michigan State University life science marketing events may also be interested in the university’s latest NIH and NSF funding statistics. The NIH awarded Michigan State University $49.4 million in research funding in 2012. The research funding was distributed among a number of life science departments, including biochemistry, biostatistics, chemistry, internal medicine, microbiology and veterinary sciences. For a full list of departments receiving NIH funding organized by department name, number of awards received and total funding awarded, please visit the NIH website.

In addition to receiving a wealth of funding from the NIH, Michigan State University also received $62.1 million from the NSF in 2012. The projects awarded money ranged widely across the spectrum of life science disciplines. Some of the life science departments awarded funding include global systems science, systems and synthetic biology, genome research, environmental biology, macrosystem biology, genetic mechanisms, biological infrastructure, neural systems clusters, systematics and biodiversity science, evolutionary science clusters, cellular dynamics and function, and molecular biophysics.

Given the growth expected in the biostimulants market and Michigan State University’s biostimulants research and impressive funding statistics, lab suppliers may want to market their university lab equipment and life science solutions at Michigan life science marketing events. Biotechnology Calendar, Inc. invites all lab suppliers to network with lab managers, purchasing agents and science researchers at Michigan State University at our next East Lansing BioResearch Product Faire™ Front Line Event on July 17, 2013. Last year, our East Lansing BioResearch Product Faire™ Front Line Event attracted 295 attendees, of which 39 were purchasing agents, professors and post docs, and 41 were lab managers. The attendees came from 32 different research buildings and 33 departments across campus.

Biotechnology Calendar, Inc. is a full-service science research marketing and events-planning company that organizes life science marketing events visited by hundreds of lab managers, post docs and purchasing agents.
