The Center for Brain Health and Performance will focus on research and education in the field of brain health. In the United States alone, over 50 million people suffer from illnesses associated with the brain, spine, and nervous system, including Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, strokes, and spinal cord injuries.
“The concept of brain health is far reaching and not limited to those afflicted with neurological disorders. Optimizing our brain health and function is important throughout our lives, from youth to advanced age. This innovative center will use research and neuroscience to regain, retain, and optimize brain health and performance for people of all ages," explained Columbus neurosurgeon and researcher Dr. Ali Rezai.
Once established, this new Center for Brain Health and Performance will help further establish Columbus, OH as a leader in neurological and biomedical research. The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is already a leader in health care performance and research in the Columbus area.
