Conference - Cambridge, United Kingdom

The 2nd Wellcome Trust conference on Exploring Human Host-Microbiome Interactions in Health and Disease will bring together leading scientists from the fields of microbiology, immunology, nutrition, gastroenterology and neuroscience to discuss the latest developments in this fast developing field. This meeting will focus on how various microbiomes (oral, gut, skin etc.) interact with that of the host. Discussions will also include the influence of the microbiome on reproduction and development, mental health and cognitive function. The use of pro- and prebiotics to reduce disease risk and the development of new foods and drugs based on microbes will also be a focus of the meeting. We will also host the ‘great debate’, which will be a forum to discuss the opportunities and challenges in translating microbiome research to benefits in public health.

Understanding the role of the microbiome will offer new insights into major disease processes and discovery of new therapeutic strategies that either target the microbiome directly or use this information in new stratified medicine approaches. We welcome abstracts from all areas relevant to microbiome research.
