Science Researcher Update: Spotlight on Meetings, Conferences, and Events

IBRO/ARC neuroscience school; Epigenetics in Neurological Disorders

Posted on Oct 15, 2014 10:49:06 PM

Workshop - Cairo, Egypt

The research in neuroscience is still in 'embryonic stage" in Egypt and Africa. This event will give
our efforts for increasing awareness about such event a PUSH. This is of eminent importance to
IBRO mission in Africa. With an area of different environmental issues and hazards e.g. pesticides
and heavy metals and their impact on CNS, the role of epigenetic modifiers seems of ultimate
importance to African community. Hence choice of the school theme.
This school includes interaction between world-renowned experts and recently graduated African
neuroscientists. Such interaction will lead to added value to local African researchers by increasing
knowledge bases, acquisition of skills, and the potential for increased national and international
funding. We anticipate capacity building, both by interactions between European/American and
African investigators, and by training of African researchers. Ultimately, such school should lead to
the development of local African programs dedicated to the investigation of neurological disorders
from different aspects towards more effective management and treatment.
