This 1.5-day program focuses on using family history information to identify patients who will benefit from increased cancer screening, genetic testing, and/or referral. The program, which focuses on building connections among southern New England providers, features:
1) a one-day workshop for primary care providers
2) an evening interprofessional program and networking event
3) monthly communications and access to online and mobile resources.
This case-based workshop will be facilitated by practicing providers and is designed to be interactive. Learn about and practice:
• efficient use of family history to identify patients at increased cancer risk;
• approaches to genetic testing in primary care settings;
• implementing USPSTF guidelines related to risk assessment and genetic testing;
• using resources for referral and screening based on risk assessment and genetic testing; and
• applying strategies related to genetics billing and insurance issues.
