2014 Science Research Conference: Virus Structure and Assembly

Posted on Jun 20, 2014 11:08:00 AM

Conference - Saxtons River, VT, United States

This 2014 FASEB Science Research Conference focuses on structural virology and the application of structure to our understanding of the progression of events that are the virus lifecycle: receptor binding, entry, intracellular trafficking, uncoating, replication, assembly, and exit. Virus assembly includes the process of constructing virions and of marshaling host resources for that purpose.Knowledge on virus structure and assembly can be used to develop new antiviral approaches and also to harness viruses to new purposes. For 2014, the underlying theme for the conference is the structural basis of how viruses interact with and respond to their environment. This FASEB Conference brings together structural virologists, geneticists, cell biologists, biochemists, and theoreticians who each investigate virus assembly using a wide array of techniques.
