This new course is designed to introduce the cutting-edge approaches to medicine that are possible using high-throughput next generation sequencing (NGS).Medicine is being transformed by these advanced technologies and the prospect of routine personalised medicine based on genomic information is tantalisingly close. This course is given at a post-doctoral level and is intended for anyone looking for a wide-ranging introduction to the field of Genomic Medicine.
This five-day interactive course provides state of the art teaching using lecture-based sessions and practical sessions both in the laboratory and on the computer. All sessions will allow for Q&A time after each speaker.
The course is presented by the internationally-respected genomics expert Prof Michael Lovett, Chair in Systems Biology, and is supported by his colleagues from the Section of Genomic Medicine of the National Heart and Lung Institute. These include Prof William Cookson, Professor of Genomic Medicine, Prof Anne Bowcock, Chair in Cancer Genomics and Prof Miriam Moffatt, Professor of Respiratory Genetics.
