Throughout the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, conducting effective and compliant clinical trials is operationally challenging due to numerous regulations, the need for continuous in-service training, and evolving cloud-based technologies that are increasingly being incorporated into all phases of the trials. The complex job for clinical quality assurance executives begins well in advance of initial patient enrollment as protocols, procedures, and workflows are designed to ensure quality of the data collected. As the data gathered from trial subjects truly builds the groundwork for the success of new products, it is the job of clinical quality assurance executives to ensure trial integrity by effectively monitoring, assessing, and improving upon clinical procedures and guidelines while overseeing the effort of study team members. It is an enormous undertaking for organizations as drugs and bio-therapeutics are tested in thousands of patients prior to approval, and it is important for all members of the research team to recognize that maintaining accuracy and quality throughout a clinical study is a continual, interconnected, and active process.
