Conference - West Palm Beach, FL, United States
This FASEB Science Research Conference (SRC) focuses on the molecular mechanisms and physiological consequence of protein aggregation associated both with diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease as well as the normal function of certain protein aggregates. Topics will include the mechanism of protein aggregation both in vitro as well as in vivo, structure-activity relationships of amyloids, proteotoxicity of amyloids, the cellular response and pathogenesis on protein aggregation, the influence of aging in amyloid toxicity, therapeutic intervention, and the action of functional amyloids. The 2015 meeting is the tenth conference in a series that began in 1995. It will bring together researchers from across the globe studying protein aggregation from distinct perspectives, allowing emerging concepts to be shared more widely and to synergistically advance the study, treatment and prevention of amyloidosis. Therefore, the program will facilitate cross-talk between multiple areas of science, techniques, and skill levels to inspire new innovations and quality science in the area of protein aggregation diseases. A large number of oral presentations will be selected from the abstracts, and the selected talks, poster presentations, and recreational activities will provide students and postdoctoral fellows opportunities to exchange ideas and formulate new collaborations. Funds have been secured to provide student/postdoc travel scholarships.
