Conference - West Palm Beach, FL, United States

This FASEB Science Research Conference (SRC) is focused on advancing collaborative interactions between investigators that study different basic aspects of mitochondrial biology and translational investigators engaged in studying mitochondrial roles in human health, disease, and aging. These collaborative interactions are essential to develop innovative interdisciplinary approaches to further our understanding of mitochondria at the fundamental, translational and clinical levels. To achieve these goals, the conference will cover eight major topics: Biogenesis and function of mitochondrial macromolecules, mitochondrial protein quality control, Heme, Fe-S clusters and metal cofactors in mitochondrial metabolism, mitochondrial stress in cell signaling and aging, mitochondrial dynamics in development and diseases, nuclear DNA-driven mechanisms of mitochondrial disease, new pathways, biomarkers and technologies to study metochondria function, and challenges and opportunities in mitochondrial biology and medicine. This conference will bring together basic and translational scientists with a broad range of research interests and different levels of experience ranging from established investigators to graduate students. We invite junior investigators women and minority scientists and individuals with disabilities to bring their unique insights into this rapidly expanding field, so that we can create a highly collegial and synergistic format to facilitate exchange of knowledge and formal and informal discussions.
