Conference - Leuven, Belgium
Join VIB for its interdisciplinary meeting on “Metabolism in cancer and stromal cells” in the historical center of Leuven (Belgium) from September 8-10, 2015.
The metabolism of cancer cells and recently also of stromal cells (endothelial cells, immune cells, fibroblasts) have emerged as critical hallmark in the (patho)physiology of organs in healthy and diseased tissue. Evidence indicates that metabolism not only co-determines the differentiation and function of cells, but it also contributes to the pathogenesis of cancer, diabetes and inflammatory diseases. With this international meeting we will focus on how cancer and stromal cells metabolically communicate and how their specific metabolism impacts disease development and progression. These insights into cellular metabolism also offer novel therapeutic opportunities for malignant, metabolic, or inflammatory disease.
This meeting will bring together researchers from cancer metabolism and stromal cell metabolism fields. Renowned speakers will provide a broad view on metabolic regulation, the link between signaling and metabolism as well as the intercellular crosstalk. This event will provide an opportunity to discuss the latest findings in those fields. These discussions will stimulate new ideas and impact the field by introducing novel concepts and experimental approaches.
This conference is organized in collaboration with Vesalius Research Center and KU Leuven.
