Symposium - Dibrugarh, India
The sub-Himalayan region has been recognized as one of the largest biodiversity hotspots of the world and it has the richest reservoir of plant diversity in India. The region is famous for its unique ecology, lushness of its landscape and diverse physiography. Because of its favourable climatic condition this region is the storehouse of several medicinal plants. Unfortunately, potentiality of these plants for curing various diseases remained largely unexplored, mostly because in many cases scientific information and evidences regarding chemical compounds present in these species are missing. To get more insight into this subject it is worthwhile to organize an international congregation of scientists from allied disciplines to create a common platform for sharing views and ideas on the contemporary trends in drug discovery from plant sources.
