This ambitious project is the result of the collaborative effort of fifteen Georgia-based Universities. BEINGS 2015 (“Biotechnology and the Ethical Imagination: A Global Summit”) is supported by 25 Consular Offices in the southeastern United States, as well as scientific societies such as The American Association for the Advancement of Science, The National Academies of Science, and The World Health Organization.
BEINGS 2015 will bring together over 400 thought leaders from the top 30 biotechnology producing countries of the world, as well as representatives from other countries, transnational organizations, NGOs, religious and cultural groups, industry, academia, government, and the arts. The goal of BEINGS 2015 is to reach consensus on – and draft a model set of – global ethical principles and policy standards for cellular biotechnologies.
