Workshop - Belfield, Dublin, Ireland
The workshop will focus specifically on current research into novel scintillators and their applications in industry, as well as in research. Application areas to be discussed include medicine, space, security and physics.
The shortfalls of current, conventional scintillator detectors (compatibility of the material with photo-sensors, or the nature of the scintillator material), will be addressed and solutions to these problems explored. Alternatives to inorganic scintillators, such as glass ceramics, will be discussed, along with the latest developments in organic, inorganic and glass scintillator technologies. The workshop will host a mixture of invited and contributed talks as well as a poster session.
One of the main goals of this workshop is to bring together experts from diverse backgrounds in order to identify the limits of the current generation of scintillators in the relevant application areas and present promising new materials and possible pathways for future developments. We hope the exchange of knowledge between research and industry experts will lead to the formation of new networks in this rapidly changing field.
